Full Recipe
What You’ll Need:
For the dumplings
2C All-Purpose Flour
1tsp Baking Powder
1tsp Salt
1/2c Milk (any milk is fine here)
1/4c cold cubed salted butter
Additional Ingredients
4-6C Chicken Broth
2C Shredded Chicken Breast
Salt and Pepper to taste
How To:
Start by adding flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt to a mixing bowl. Whisk them together, then add in cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter, fork, or your hands to mix until it looks like coarse crumbs.
Once you reach a crumbly texture, pour in the milk and mix until a dough forms. Place the dough on a floured surface, and roll it out to your desired thickness for the dumplings.
Cut the dough into 1-inch squares and set them aside. Any excess flour on these is completely okay!
In a pot over medium heat, bring the broth to a boil. Drop in the dumplings one by one to prevent them from sticking to one another. Let them cook for 5-7 minutes, until they’re soft. The consistency of these will resemble gnocchi.
Stir in your cooked chicken and let it boil for another 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste, and your hearty chicken and dumplings are ready to serve!
